A few years ago, I moved to Spain with the dream of setting up a Yoga Retreat Center on the Mediterranean Coast. I was excited to create a space where people could come and transform their lives through yoga. But in the first two years, I quickly realized that it was much more work than I had expected, and my partnership with my business partner became increasingly difficult.
Despite the challenges, we doubled the number of retreat participants in the second year and were fully booked for the third season. But the third season never happened: The pandemic came, bringing everything to a halt. It was a turning point for me—I knew I needed to make a change. I wanted independence and the ability to support people where they needed it most: in their home yoga practice.
For nearly three decades, I had been teaching weekly yoga classes, workshops, and teacher trainings in Vienna, Austria, but I realized I had never truly guided my students on how to develop a consistent home yoga practice. I see how much people struggle with this, and I know I can offer meaningful support.
Over many years, I had developed an annual structure for my own home yoga practice, with 12 sequences—one for each month of the year—each lasting around 90 minutes. These sequences were thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the seasons, incorporating a wide variety of postures.
I created simple workbooks for each sequence and only shared them with a small group of seven students from my teacher training in Vienna. This group continues to use my workbooks to this day, adapting them as needed because they understand the principles behind the practice.
Knowing that most people don't have the time or energy to commit to long practices, I broke down these comprehensive sequences into smaller, manageable parts that can easily fit into busy schedules. This way, anyone can enjoy the benefits of a varied and well-structured yoga practice that harmonizes the 5 elements within the human system.
There is one thing that you need to understand: Any yoga sequence needs to be repeated many times to show real results. Forget about creating new, "creative" sequences every time you practice.
